Here at A Prairie View , you will find a little bit of everything — thoughts, musings, meme’s, views of my life, both in written and picture form. Some of the posts are sponsored, but still all tie into my life and life experiences.
ABOUT ME:
I am a Christian, wife, mom, grandma, aunt, niece, friend, and co-worker, who loves blogging, reading, scrapbooking, and Bible Study.
You would think being 48 years old, that I could write a book …’about me’. And, in some ways, that is what blogging is. Writing my life, as it happens. Daily events. Pictures. Videos. The good. The bad. The ugly. But, for someone who has just stumbled across my little world here, is it really fair to them to make them read through several thousand entries, just to find out a little bit ‘about me’. So…to hit the basics..
– About Me –
I am 48 years old. Born in Holcomb, Kansas, I have been a Kansas resident most of my life, with the exception of about 6 years when I was married the 1st time. I married young (very. young. tooooo. young.). I lived in Athens, Ohio, and then in Three Rivers, Michigan those 6 years. I became a mom to Jason and to Matt.
I then moved back to Kansas, and started a whole new life. David and I were married in 1983, and became an instant family of 6. My 2 boys, and his 2 girls, all under the age of 6. That would be …Jason, Matt, Sarah, and Becky. And then, what WERE we thinking? that our family wouldn’t be complete until we had one of our own. And that would be Ethan. He is now 16, and keeps me busy with his many interests, activities, and passions. The 4 older kids are, of course, now adults, with lives and families of their own. We have 5 wonderful grandchildren …. 4 boys and 1 girl.
My interests are many, but blogging seems to take the majority of my free time. I have always kept a journal, and blogging was just an extention of that. And now that you throw “paid blogging” into the equation, blogging seems to be my only hobby at the moment. I do love scrapbooking, reading, and various different crafts, but its been a while since I’ve done any of them. These, including blogging, are my “free time” activities.
My day time activities include 2 part times. I have emotional ties to both jobs, so its more a “love of” rather than “have to” that keeps me with both jobs. In the mornings, I am a church secretary. It is the church we have attended since 1989, and my job there is one of those “God never closes a door, without opening another”. I had worked at a company for 18 years, and when that company closed it doors, its like “ok. now what”. It was a bit ironic that something I did alot on a volunteer basis (different jobs and ministries at the church) became a “paid opportunity” when the current secretary quit … just when I was needing a job.
My 2nd part time job is working at my husband’s office. He is the office manager at a small trucking company, and dispatches for 11 (give or take) trucks. There is ALOT of paper work that goes along with that — just the trucking part, with log sheets and trip sheets, expenses, etc. And just recently, the Acount Receivables and Payables has become our responsibility too. So, what we do out there could be a full time job. But, I love my job at the church, and I wouldn’t feel right to continue attending there after “quitting” the secretarial job; so I just continue to balance the two jobs, and for the most part, it works.
And then you throw the “paid blogging” into the equation. It literally is a 3rd job. When I really work at it, my financial numbers equals the same as one of the part time jobs. So, I try to treat it as such, and hope to continue on with it. Its a wonderful opportunity, working with the different companies, discovering new sites all the time, and getting paid to review and link them. I do stand solid on the fact that I won’t write about anything I find distasteful, or wouldn’t use or recommend.
So. That is “About Me’. In a nutshell. Browse through the categories, there is a wealth of information about me, about my days, my thoughts, and much more more.
