Good Point

Posted by Prairierose on Nov 30, 2005

Sara sent this forward to me, and I thought it made a really good point, so just wanted to share:

SOMEBODY’S RAISING THEIR KID RIGHT!
One Nation, “Under GOD”

One day, a 6 year old girl was sitting in a classroom.
The Teacher was explaining evolution to the children.
The Teacher asked a little boy:
Tommy do you see the tree outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Tommy, do you see the grass outside?
TOMMY: Yes.
TEACHER: Go outside and look up and see if you can see the sky.
TOMMY: Okay. (He returned a few minutes later) Yes, I saw the sky.
TEACHER: Did you see GOD?
TOMMY: No.
TEACHER: That’s my point. We can’t see GOD because HE isn’t there.
HE just doesn’t exist.

Piece of Cake

Posted by Prairierose on Nov 30, 2005

Today is: Wednesday
The weather is : Very cool. Mostly cloudy in the evening then becoming partly cloudy. A chance of flurries in the evening. Lows around 21. South winds 5 to 10 mph shifting to the northwest around 15 mph after midnight.

After harvest and the hundreds of invoices it generated those few weeks, this Monday was a piece of cake doing the billing. For starters, we are back to normal loads — long haul, so instead of a few hundred “local” loads, the drivers are back to going to Texas and Oklahoma, and there are only 50 or so loads to bill. Plus, most of the drivers only drove 3 days last week. So. Piece of cake. I was even able to get some other things done while there, and that was nice in itself as well.

Just wish I could say yesterday was “a piece of cake”.

It. Wasn’t.

Come and Gone

Posted by Prairierose on Nov 27, 2005

Today is: Sunday

Thanksgiving has come and gone. My birthday has come and gone. Both were wonderful, family-filled days and I got through them relatively easy. I thought about Mom, and I miss her terribly. But. You go on. You pass on memories and traditions that she passed on to you. I was surrounded by many who love me, and for that I am thankful. I did take pictures Thanksgiving day, and finally got them added to my Photo page — found HERE.

Yesterday was a nice day. I recieved a card from my wonderful friend, Ruth; and many birthday wishes from friends here online.

The Day After

Posted by Prairierose on Nov 25, 2005

Today is: Friday
Thought for today:

Its the day after, but we will be gathering again shortly. David’s oldest brother is here for a few days; and he’s not seen his sister’s new house. So, we are all invited out there for soup. There will be lots of family, I’m sure. But. We don’t do this often, so I will go, and I will enjoy.

And then tomorrow … we party. Ok, well, I can dream. And quite honestly, we better NOT party. I enjoy celebrating birthdays as much as the next person. But I HATE being the center of attention at a restraunt. I don’t care if you get a free dessert. I do not like the spotlight being on me. Just a quiet meal together, with loved ones. Thats all I ask.

Happy Thanksgiving

Posted by Prairierose on Nov 24, 2005

The beginning of the holiday season. Family getting together. Wonderful tasting food. Part of me just wants to curl up in a ball, and let the festivites go on without me. A part of me wants to throw that small child tantrum, because my mom isn’t here to be a part of the celebration of giving thanks.

I thought I was past this. But, I know a part of me will never go away. Its just all in how I deal with it, and I either will allow myself or make myself move forward. I do have many things to be thankful for, and I am going to concentrate on them.

Good Blogger

Posted by Prairierose on Nov 24, 2005

This was something I had on my list of things to blog about. I know with the new blog should come fresh and new things. But there are some things from the old blog I want to re-add. I also want to get any old entries I have floating around out there in the www. added here. That was a project I had started with the other one as well. Also, 101 things in 1001 days. That is a step forward. Setting goals. Whether they be fun, serious, family oriented, Christian growth — watch for my link/list of 101 things.

Anyway, as I read through this list — I have always journaled, so blogging just because the next step in that somewhat daily or weekly activity. But. Am I good blogger? What is a good blogger? I thought this was a good article and reference, and I wanted to share it. The article is in italics.

Broken Blog

Posted by Prairierose on Nov 23, 2005

Well, I really did it this time. I don’t know what I did, but I took my blog to the point of no return.

So then I had to step back, take a deep breath, and remind myself, that — it was just words. Its not a person, and in the big picture of things, I only lost words. Somehow, I am going to take from this experience, some knowledge, some lessons leearned, and maybe a new perspective on things.

I can’t help but think … my birthday is just a few short day away. I have had some thoughts of what I would like to do — not necessarily for “that day” — but rather … in 2 very very short years, I turn 50. Half a century. I would like to set some goals, and make the marker my 50th birthday. Starting a new blog, with perhaps a new attitude, is maybe a good place to start.
