Ethan survived his evening alone. Matter of fact, truth be known, he probably enjoyed it. More than I would like to see. We will just have to see how it all unfolds. He was one the phone most of the evening. With. A. Girl. Long Distance!! He swears she called him. It was a girl he met at a Forensics meet, and they have been IMing back and forth quite a bit. Hopefully, a “nights and weekends” plan was in place, and this phone call isn’t going to cost a fortune.
We did enjoy ourselves, and even though there were kids there — they were the owner’s kids, and the room was packed. Plus, we looked around, and there were other people there who had kids Ethan’s age, and those kids weren’t there. So, it was just best all the way around, that he wasn’t there. Not sure we could have found room for him. It was definately packed! what a way to celebrate your 50th birthday. She had told him that if she survived being married to him (its a long story, and she is justified in what she said), that she would like to have a “party” for her 50th birthday.
Now… I think most of us would have thought of a nice little gathering at the house, cake … ice cream. But. You also have to know this lady If it had been at the house, she would have stressed, even though her house is spotless on a BAD day, and it would not have been a good deal. What he did was “perfect’ for her. The party was at a small little cafe in the small little town they live in. This cafe has “steak night’ once a month. I don’t know what I was expected — but it never occured to me this would be a “free” meal. Can you imagine — steak suppers for 40 people?? to celebrate your wife’s birthday? What a guy. And we aren’t talking little strips of meat. The steaks were HUGE. And marinated to perfection. We plan on going back again sometime, just us. Maybe David’s folks. But, its definately a meal worth driving a ways for.
