Everyday Things

Everyday Things is a weekly feature @ Everyday Mommy. It is designed to encourage all of us to embrace contentment and to appreciate the everyday things which we often take for granted. What is a favorite everyday thing of yours? Write about it, and then go let Jules know you did so others can be encouraged as well.

I will bet for the most part, most people take this for granted. The beating of your heart. Its just there, and it keeps us going. And yet, as I am faced with AFib (Atrial Fibulation) – many times a day, I will just stop, and be quiet, and listen … some days I’m not even aware of my heart beating, and that is how it is for most people. But other days, I can hear it pounding in my ear. And on really BAD days, its not a steady thump, thump, thump. Its a thumpthumpthump ……pause….flutter…..thumpitythump.

Most of the time, I know when its out of rhythm; and quite honestly, I think its been out of rhythm lately more than I have been willing to admit. But. The cardiologist is now a “up front” part of my life again. Weekly Protime checks. Daily coumadin takage. Daily Toprol takage. Weight loss program in place and going fine. All of these things, for something that is usually taken for granted.

I would be soooo content to hear the steady thump thump thump…. around 90 beats a minute, if you would please. (thats what the toprol is for, to slow my heart rate down) I didn’t appreciate my “good health” until it was gone. I appreciate those days when I don’t notice my heart at all.

    Dear Carolyn,

Hi! :) Hey - was that “you” who went to my new blog at Village Blogger and posted a comment? *lol*

Just wondering ‘cuz you’re the only Carolyn I linked and at first I couldn’t figure out why you asked why I linked you [’cuz I always have on my blogs.]

But - then I happened to think that … duh, you might not know that I was “me.” *lol*

I found that new place to blog at and I really like it - FINALLY I have categories on my blog which I’ve wanted for a LONG time!

It’s easy to blog there but I really want to put my other layout on it but don’t know css so am having a problem with getting the 3 backgrounds on it.

Let me know if that was you and if you didn’t realize it was me [now I’m curious. *lol*]

    Love ya,

    Jennelle

I can see where our heartbeat is definitely something we take for granted. I read a statistic somewhere about how many times our heart beats from the moment we’re born until the moment we die and it’s astounding.

So…..someone’s been playing with her template again. I love this header. A lot. A whole lot!

I know how you are feeling. My husband is the one with health problems, and I appreciate how difficult it can be to live with health problems. You’re right, we do take those things for granted. I’ll be praying that you will be able to get things under control.

It is SOOOOO easy to take things like that for granted…your heart beating…or being able to breathe normally!!! You don’t realize what you’re missing until that’s gone!!! Then, some days, you’d do just about anything to get back to “normal”.

Wow, talk about taking things for granted. My heart beats very well, yet I abuse my veins will all sorts of fat and cholesterol.

    This is an excellent reminder.
