I keep talking to David about different weight loss plans we could try, reading what all we could eat and not eat, and what else would be involved. I’ve even suggested that we could take the medication route. But, I have to agree with him. Even with the best diet pills or right kinds of food, you still have to get up off the couch and do. something. Exercise is a vital part of weight loss. Positive mental attitude is another. There are several different things that have to come together and you make it work, or it doesnt’ matter what you do. Yes, anything you do is going to help. But, to get the full benefit of what you are doing, you need to give each area your best.
I had to laugh at David awhile back. He has gotten into an exercise routine again. When he first started a month or so ago, he would walk evenings — and go to the Rec Center in the mornings. This was great. Except. When he walked at night, he would walk to the grocery store. Its a mile up there, a mile back. Great! you say. So did I. Except, when he walked back, he had 2 plastic bags of groceries. And it wasn’t fruits and vegetables. It was pop and chips. But, he has finally broke himself of that, and now he is just walking in the mornings. I’m proud of him. I know he wants me to join him, but for now … no.

There are only a few days left of this year, and then we are looking at a whole new year. A clean slate in some ways. I look back over this year, and how miserable I have been. I won’t say I have tried everything, or experienced a alli weight loss — as a matter of fact, its just the opposite. I pretty much gave up and didn’t try anything this year. And that definately isn’t the answer either. What can I do to lose weight sensibly and safely? To find something that with help me along the way, and yet not mess with my head or my heart? Alot of the pills and such on the market ultimately mess with the heart, and with the heart problems I have, that probably isn’t the smart way to go. But I do know there are other products on the market that don’t mess with the heart, and those products I might ought to give a chance. Just as with the new president and his slogan, I want to make the days ahead ones of change. Its. Time.

COMPULSIVE about anything?
Unfortunately, yes. Lots of things. Shopping, eating, blogging. I used to be really bad about compulsive shopping … and I still have my moments. But, I would like to think I have it better under control. We still go to Walmart from time to time, and leave with many things that weren’t on the list. But, we often go months without going to Walmart, or similiar type shopping, so that helps hold the compulsion at bay. Even so, I am doing much better than I used to. I used to go to stores to buy something — anything. I didn’t know what, and why, but that need to go there, to spend money, was there. Its been a long time, though, since I have felt like that. When we go shopping, we usually have a definate reason in mind. I will probably always be compulsive, but I do feel like there is still hope for me.

BOOKS: What’s on your reading list?
Just to limit it to a few …
I’m currently reading Sister, Ink by Rebecca Seitz, which I have fallen in love with a whole new series. Up until now, the Yada Yada Prayer Group series was my all time favorite; but I read the last of the series a couple of weeks ago. It was literally the last book of the series, so no more Yada Yada books to look forward to. I have a mountain of books that I need to index and get added to my library list. Although, I might have to watch my laptop memory — I have a bookcase of books, as well as several tote boxes that need to be put on shelves … if I had room for more shelves, which I don’t. I do have a plan though. Its just a matter of decluttering and doing some changing around. I’ll get it done one of these days.

If you were an ANIMAL, what would you be?
I know there are alot of beautiful, powerful animals out there, but I think that I would want to be a simple little house cat. One that lived in a family that loved me. Curling up with the lady of the house, keeping her warm, and letting her know that I would always be there, even though it is in our nature to be independent and not needing others. I love the way cats preen themselves, everything has to be just so. And of late, our cat seems to always be around me, just like a 2 year. Doesn’t matter what room of the house I’m in, there he is. But its comforting (as long as I’m not tripping over him). He has been like my own little space heater this winter. If I were to be a animal, I would like to be like our cat is. Loved and very much a part of our family. As a Cat 5 cables running across the floor would get me tangled up, but I would still play, acting silly with the members of my family. Changing my tail, changing that little lazer light, letting them think that I’m just a goof ball. But I’m making them laugh, and that is what is truly important.
